Hold switch not working after replacment

Hi

I have just replaced the volume and hold buttons on an ipod touch 4th gen. The old ones worked, but I snapped the thin cable when working on it so had to replace it. Now the volume buttons work, but the hold switch will not. I have checked the solders and they're fine. I think the replacement may be defective, because I cannot think of anything else. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them as I do not want to wait three weeks for another hold switch.
