Daughterboard reusability in brand new optical drive

I recently purchased a new optical drive for an Xbox One S. I know that I have to put the daughter board in it from the original optical drive, but my question is what good is the daughter board that came with the brand new drive? If these are all married to a motherboard then what is a brand new daughter board married to? Does the new one have a clean slate and I don't need to swap daughterboards at all?
