Home button stopped working.

I replaced the charging port, battery, lcd, and digitizer on my iphone 3gs. The home button worked for a day and then it went out on me. I purchased a new home button on eBay and replaced it myself, but the home button still doesn't work. I'm thinking about purchasing a new charge port thinking this will fix it.

Not sure if it is a hardware or software issue. Reason why I say this is because the home button was working until I tried jailbreaking it. After trying to jailbreak, the home button stopped working. The next day it started working again so I tried jailbreaking again, and yet again it stopped permanently. Can anyone please let me know their thoughts on what may be the problem before I re-purchase a charging port from eBay? Thank you guys

Sounds strange, not sure if it will help but might be worth just taking the front assembly off, cleaning the connectors on the dock for the home button and hoping for the best, a JB 'shouldn't' interfere like this from my experience :s

Thanks for the recommendation LUKE I. I cleaned the new charging port where the home button touches with a q-tip dipped in alcohol and I also attached a piece of foil on the prongs of the home button and now it works. I replaced the charging port today and now cable #7 wont snap on, leaving me without a signal. Anyone know of a trick make them connect? I've been searching on this site as well as other sites with no luck on making them connect.

Whenever I get that issue the 1st thing I check is the connector it plugs into on the logic board itself, it seems to be easily deformed and sometimes just needs a little help being a circle again :)

I usually try plugging it in by 1st holding the cable of 7 to the dock connector itself, sometimes this lines it up for you straight away, if not, I try and get the bottom part of the connector on 1st and then plug it in from there.
