Left Analogue Stick bounce / Snapback

When the left analogue stick is suddenly released from a fully tilted position, it 'bounces’ back to the other side and as it settles, it sometimes registers input in the opposite direction for a couple of frames. All pro and joy cons I have used (6+) have had this problem. My 17 year old gamecube controller does not. Can this be fixed, if so how?
