If you’re comfortable with a soldering iron you can attempt to replace the charging port yourself, but judging from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0FhFsah... it doesn’t look like it’s just a case of removing the old one and sticking a new one in since it’s soldered to the main logic board.

Hi,

Here’s a video that shows how to disassemble a LG G Pad 8.3 V500 (if this is your model variant, you didn’t specify).

It is useful because at 5:35 minutes into the video the charge port flex cable (supplier example only) can be seen being removed from the tablet. The charge port is part of the flex cable module

There are other suppliers of the part online. Just search for Charging Port Connector Dock Flex Cable For LG G Pad 8.3 (insert model number e.g. V500 or VK810 etc)

Flex != Port :)

Hi @bramdriesen

Not sure what you meant by your comment but the charge port is mounted on the flex cable so no need to replace the port it is easier to replace the complete flex cable module.

Cheers

@jayeff True, but thats also a valid point, but if nothing is wrong with the cable, and if you can solder why not do that? :-)

It may be easier to replace the cable than to find the exact replacement USB port as there are very many different USB connectors of the same type i.e. micro, standard

The main difference being in the number and location of the mounting lugs on the USB body besides of course whether they're through hole type connection, smd type, 90 deg pins etc.

They can have 2 or 4 mounting lugs and also the exact point as to where they are located on the case can vary and this has to align with the solder pads on the cable or circuit board etc which makes it time consuming to find them unless you're lucky enough to get them using the device model number in the search

Also given the price of the replacement cable in this instance and if you're not that proficient at smd soldering (not everyone is) made worse in this case because it is on a flex cable and not a pcb it is probably the better option.

Cheers
