Controller won't charge/turn on

I have replaced the battery AND also the charging port but the controller still won’t charge or turn on. I pressed the reset button on the back and pressed the PS button but no lights (the console wasn’t plugged in when I tried this I assumed this wouldn’t make a difference?)

Any other suggestions?
