iPhone won't start when Touch ID is connected

I’ve got a lot of iPhone to repair and some phone came without a screen so the previous owner put with it the Touch ID along side the phones. I manage to paired most of them with their motherboard but there is one phone and one Touch ID (that a I am mostly sure they are a matching set) that when I plug it in the phone the phone just won’t start and I try everything (recovery mode, plug in a Mac, plug in the wall and nothing would power it). Also when I put an other Touch ID sensor in the phone it boot normally (with the warning that Touch ID can’t be enable) and I also check the Touch ID sensor in an other phone and it power on normally. So I don’t know what to do to make this work with the phone. I even try plugging the Touch ID sensor when the phone was running (yeah I know that not a thing to do but I did it) and immediately when I plug it in the phone shut down. Any ideas why ?

I tried what would recommend me and it did nothing, but let me be more precise about the situation

I have 2 phone. Phone 1 (P1) who have the problem with Touch ID and phone 2 (P2) witch is a perfectly working phone. For both phone I use the p2 screen assembly.

when I plugged the Touch ID presumably match to p1 the phone don’t boot at all. When I plug the Touch ID of p1 in p2 it work (with the touch id warning ) then if I plug the Touch ID of p2 in p1 it also work (still with the warning) so it’s like both work independently but the phone don’t boot when they are together.

Don’t just swap screens. You will need to swap the home buttons on the two screens to completely rule out faulty parts.

If it is still showing the same symptoms you will need to find the line on the logic board that is responsible. How you do this will depend on what equipment you have. If you have a little experience in electronics and the following equipment you will be able to find the line and component that is causing the problem.

· Multimeter.

· Board view software.

· Schematics.

· DCPS

· Power squid

· IBridge.

When you have found the faulty component you will need.

· Hot air re-work station.

· Soldering station.

I also swap the screen and it do nothing but for now microsodering is out of my range of competence so I'll either used it for parts or something else, but thanks for your support

hello Renaud,

This is a classic accessory problem. Often the problem in such cases is the button itself and the electronics on its tape or the plug. Buttons from flooded phones sometimes behave strangely. Not everyone knows that similar problems are caused by the connection tape under the screen. You have to do a comparative test with a control sample. If you are a fully developed and well-read electronics engineer, you know what I'm talking about. If you repair phones based on youtube observations, I explain:

connect the button to another, fully working phone, through a different screen and a connection tape. This is due to damage to the electronics of a button, screen or tape. If it works, (there will be an alarm about TouchID - which is normal) it means that all components are ok. Let me add that we work on the motherboard with the screen only. Connect DCPS instead of battery, no cameras, no power & volume tapes and dock. Start by tweezers. We change the motherboard - the set is the same. We know that the screen, button and tape are working properly. If everything works, we suspect the screen or tape has been damaged. If you are interested in further investigation, take apart the screen, extract the tape and swap it. The test is based on the same methodology as the previous one. If it doesn't work, you can assume that if the screen, tape and button work ... the motherboard is defective. In that case, you have the entire MAMBA and MESA layout to review.
