Keyboard replacement keys register incorrectly

Hello

After some water damage, I’ve had my a1534 cleaned by my local apple specialists and set about replacing the keyboard myself.

I’ve made sure to de power the battery by pressing the small yellow button as outlined in the guides and powered back up using the low power iPhone charger.

First time it tried, the keyboard was physically not aligned correctly and a key or two was sticking. I disassembled and bent the keyboard by mistake while trying to move it.

I attributed a resulting issue where the keys would register incorrectly due to physical damage and ordered a second keyboard, which I replaced with care and seems to work well.

However, three keys don’t seem to work correctly. Pressing t results in tg being registered, g-> bg, and b is the odd one, which seems to be command and minus / b, so reduces screen size etc.

I have a second a1534 2015 which I bought to use while fixing. system info says the following about the keyboard on my non damaged one

Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad:

  Product ID: 0x0272

  Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Inc.)

  ST Version: 6.22

  Serial Number: D3H5076LBV1FT9FAQ4BS

  Location ID: 0x01000000

and on my damaged one:

Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad:

  Product ID: 0x0272

  Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Inc.)

  ST Version: 6.23

  Serial Number: D3H53243E6SFT9FAU5BS

  Location ID: 0x01000000

I don’t think its a 2016 keyboard issue, I could be wrong though, as I had one delivered in error and the hole cutouts weren’t right.

I’m wondering if its the cable and may replace it from my good one to see if that is ok. Wondered if anyone had any advice?

Pressing 5:

Pressing 0 is sometimes ok, sometimes not. This seems to be to do with pressure. Given the line of the other keys could it be I’ve over /under tightened?

zero - ok

Zero - minus too

Let’s do this… Go into your Keyboard control panel in System Preferences. Now go to the Input Sources tab and check ‘Show Input menu in menu bar’ Also take a snapshot of as well of the full panel and post it here for us to see 在已经存在的问题里加入图片.

Now close the System Preferences and from your menu bar locate the flag icon and then select Show Keyboard Viewer So now as you type on the keyboard the given key should blink in the viewer. Is the correct key showing physically? As an as example so the A key is the one showing in the viewer even if the letter on the screen is different.

Thanks. I've added the requested information. I've also swapped both the keyboard and trackpad cable between the two and the problem remains, ruling them out IMO.

Thanks

Hmm - on further analysis, they all seem to be pressure sensitive. if I press the keys hard, then just the correct one registered. Will see if I can screw them more tightly in to the frame between the 5 and B

Tightening the screws in the keyboard seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks Dan.
