Dare I proceed with screen replacement? I

haven’t bought the screen kit yet. I carefully removed the present screen (broken glass and all), and cleaned up the force touch sensor, which never lifted, and stayed put. The one thing I didn’t do was remove the battery connection. Otherwise, all to plan. Is there a strong likelyhood I can install a new one and it work, or did I damage the watch by disconnecting the display without disconnecting the battery. Also, is there any need to remove the force touch sensor if it stayed in place during screen removal? Thanks for your wisdom
