A1708/EMC 3164—于2017年6月上市,这台入门级MacBook Pro保留了它的传统功能键(相对于OLED触控条)。

Where to test with multimeter

Where to test, with multimeter, to see if battery on a A1708 MacBook pro should be charging. Battery low indicator shows power connector hooking up and charging lightning bolt changing. Just need to know after a logic board replacement, if it’s the board or battery. Oh bye- the- way, battery was sitting uncharged for about 6 - 9 months after former user dumped water on key board and fried logic board. Battery no show in system report, but shows 2.2 volts on small board from battery.

After LB replacement EVERYTHING else works. In fact, just uploaded and setup Big Sur. Works with PS hooked up.

Update (12/03/2020)

OK, here is the latest:

I replaced the battery with a new one, still same problem. Did all the SMC resets still the same.

Now I’m thinking that the Logic board I got from Ebay, (that the seller said everything worked) missed that when he checked it.

Just out of curiosity, could that small cable from the battery to the logic board cause the same issue if it was bad?

I would use a USB-C power meter which you place in-line with the power adapter. Satechi USB-C Power Meter Tester I would also use this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see 在已经存在的问题里加入图片

Thanks for your answer, but I'm getting power to/thru the tb ports. I didn't say this before but I did find a connection that was showing 13.3 volt. Also I tried coconut and it couldn't find a battery to report on. (system report confirmed this)

OK, what I'm wanting to do is find a port or spot that I can find out what voltage I'm getting. I'm new at this and am a little unsure if the battery is bad or if it's getting voltage to charge it. According to the former user, there was less then 100 cycles the battery. I bought a brand new charger from apple and I still have the old one. I'd rather not have to purchase a one time use item.

@redsled You really should rule out the battery first but I would double check the battery data cable than check the two SCL/SDA lines of the battery BUS. They should be reading 3V

SCL/SDA lines are where? What do they look like?

With the USB-C power meter plugged in with your charger, disconnect the battery and monitor the power meter as Louis outlined here Diagnosing USB C charging issues on an A1707 Touchbar Macbook Pro

@redsled - Did you review the vid I pointed you to? Are you able to do micro soldering and read schematics? If not I think its best to find someone with the deeper skills.

Then I have to assume the sensor cable to the battery is damaged so the logic board isn't getting any input.

Yes! The Daughter board cable seems to be bad. When I checked for ohms, I got nothing. One on order, be in Friday.

WOW, what a difference in prices. Ifix : $48.65, Ebay :$6-$10 range

Well I thought I had posted an answer, but I don’t see it, so here goes again:

Replaced the battery sensor cable and now EVERYTHING works!!!

When I first install the cable it didn’t work. I checked the pictures I took before I started this project and everything was the same. So before I was going to send the logic board in to be checked out, I decided to look things over one more time. The sensor cable didn’t seem right. To make a longer story short, I flipped the cable over (brass up) and then everything worked. (apparently the previous owner, had it installed upside down.)

@redsled - Well that's weird! Why was the cable flipped?
