I brought a new SSD card for 2011 MacBook Pro and it isn’t showing up as a disk when trying to install the new OS

Make sure it is formatted to Mac OS journaled
On boot hold
Command ⌘OptionR keys at startup to boot to OS X Internet Recovery
When the options come up click.Disk utility then format the SSD then the Mac will see it
