Is it safe to use a suction cup on a screen with a crack in the middle

Hello,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 on my hands that I need to disassemble so I can put replace a part inside. The phone is working perfectly, although the screen has a crack in the middle (horizontally, end to end). I was wondering if it’s safe to use a suction cup to open the phone (such as: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B086...) because of the crack in the middle of the screen? I don’t think I’ll manage to open the device without a suction cup since I’ve opened an S7 before and the amount of glue on the inside is surreal.

Any opinions are welcome, I don’t want to end up breaking the screen completely.

Thank you in advance

TLDR answer: no.

If you have to remove the screen, plan on replacing it. Even an unbroken screen can easily be damaged when removing it from the S7, ask me how I know. But it is possible to remove without damage if you are careful. I imagine even a cracked screen such as you describe could be removed without destroying it, but even more care would have to be taken.

But, on the S7 very few part replacements require the screen to be removed; obviously the screen (glass, screen, digitizer assembly), home button/fingerprint sensor, and the two capactive buttons.

The back glass must be removed for nearly all repairs except the rear camera lens.
