Reprogramming screens on older iPhone models?

So i have a JCV1 programmer. I know for the iPhone X models and newer iphones the new screen has to be reprogrammed when replacing the screen to keep the truetone feature. Is it a good idea to reprogram new screens on older iPhones (like the iPhone 8 plus or any other previous model) even if they dont require it to work properly? Is there any benefit to do that or does it even make a difference?
