Bottom half of screen goes dark

Model is panasonic tc-l58e60

LCD display works fine for about 10 seconds and then the bottom half of the screen gets darker. Also, the image lags from left to right in the lower half. Meaning a scene will change but the bottom right corner will be slow to change to the next scene. I’ve dealt with similar issues on LED TVs but this is an LCD. Any advice?

Hi,

According to this it is a LED TV, although that may just be marketing ;-)

Here’s the service manual for the TV. (the specifications in here state it has a LCD panel with LED backlights)

On p.16 of the manual there is a LCD Panel test mode procedure that may be worth checking to see if it is a panel problem or an A board problem.

Also you said that the screen gets darker so maybe there is a backlight problem as well. Check for +24V on pins 7, 8 & 9 of P4 connector on the P board, as these are the 3 power supplies for the LED backlights. See schematic on p.30 of the service manual.

Hopefully a start.
