iPhone XR Home swipe inoperable after screen replacement

Replaced a cracked front panel on an iPhone XR (A1984) iOS 13.7 with an iFixit replacement. With the replacement screen installed, the “home swipe” gesture (swipe up from bottom of screen/home bar) is non-functional when an app is open. Swiping up from bottom only works in the following scenarios: lock screen to prompt passcode/open home screen, exit control center, exit notification center, exit quick search screen. Does not work when any apps are open - Apple native or 3rd-party. All other swipe gestures (open Control Center, open Notification center, open quick search, swipe left/right between home screen pages, drag scroll, pinch zoom) function normally. All portions of the screen are otherwise responsive, i.e. no “dead” spots. All speaker assembly functions (speaker, mic, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, face ID) are normal.

Steps I have taken to remedy:

*Re-open phone, disconnect, clean and re-seat display and digitizer cables using isopropyl alcohol and canned air

*Hard reset

*Reset all settings

*DFU mode and full restore

Still happening. Thoughts?

When inside of an app, you have to swipe more accurately (right on the white bar) whereas on the lockscreen you can swipe a little bit above the white bar. When you're unable to exit apps after a screen replacement, the screen is most likely defective. Contact iFixit for a replacement display assembly.
