Few of keyboard keys are not working

I have an issue with my keyboard. Only a few of the keys are not working. (N, M, H, J, Y, U). Any certain reason why only these keys are non-functional? Do I need to replace the keyboard?

Hi @frns4ever ,

Noticed that you have completed the laptop fan replacement guide. Was the keyboard working OK before you did this? If so you may have to open it up again and check the connection to the keyboard daughterboard is OK.

Here’s the service manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage

Go to p.32 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the keyboard daughter board. This will allow you to check the connection etc.

if it all looks OK then try connecting a USB keyboard just to verify that it is the laptop keyboard that has the problem and not that it is software related.

Have any liquids been spilled on the keyboard at all?

If you do determine that the keyboard needs to be replaced go to p.71 in the manual to see how to do this. Usually the part number is on the underside of the keyboard/palmrest assembly. When searching for a replacement part use the part number only in the search term of your browser to find suppliers of the part.

Hello @jayeff ..Thank you for your feedback. I have opened the fan for noise and cleaned it. This is after the keyboard had stopped working. As you suggested, I will verify the connection to the keyboard daughterboard one more time.

I wasn't aware of any liquid spills. I will also verify with an external keyboard connected to USB. Will keep it posted.

Thank you for providing the links to the service manual. Appreciate your feedback.
