Yamaha gas is air locked(?)

My Yahama G1A (I think) ran out of gas and now won’t start. I can add gas through the fuel filter and it runs until gone, but if will not pull it out of the tank. I've injected air back through the hose into the tank to clear any filter but no luck. Where for I check?
