Why is combo jack creating a harsh elc noise to the ext mic recording?

Why there is a harsh zizzz(electrical in more sense) sound coming from the earphone's mic or external mic when i connect it to combo jack( lenovo ideapad 320). I want to record my voice and that's why i opt in " listen to the device" opt in sound microphone properties?. i did everything from updating bios to window and windows audio driver but failed. if its a hardware problem then why? when using audio splitter with this earphones’s mic works fine but ext mic don't? I know its little complicated so hope i describe my problem clearly.

Hi,

What type of plug connector is on the ext. mic, a 4 pin plug or a 3 pin plug?

If it is a 3 ring plug then it won’t work properly as the combo unit like the socket in a mobile phone, it needs the 4 ring plug.

If it is a 3 ring plug then it needs to be changed to a 4 ring plug and the mic wires need to be connected as shown in the image below

Hi @Shubham Rawat

As you say it is weird. I'm wondering if the external microphones are wired differently to the headphones/mics.

By this I mean that one is wired to the OMTP standard and the other is to the CTIA (AHJ) standard. This means that the mic circuit is reversed.

Here’s an image of what I mean showing the two wiring standards. Note that the microphone lead is reversed with the ground lead

A way to test this quickly without to much hassle is to get an adapter so it should work correctly in either situation.

Thank you for replying, I appreciate your help but this is not the case. The ext mic having a 4 pin connector as shown above and laptop port having a combo jack.

From my calculation and searching deeply in this issue from last 6 days, i came to know this is a weird problem, this occurred due to plugging and unplugging mic in a harsh manner during recording time. So, the problem i struck with is that the extremely high pitch zizzz sound coming from ext mic during recording and my voice is at 5% but earphone mic is working fine.

Is there any short circuit happened in combo jack? if yes then why earphones and earphone's mic and ext speaker working.

And i tested 2 3 ext mic got the same problem

So how can i rectify this issue please help?
