How to repair power supply.

I have a Yamaha RX-V679 and whenever i turn it on its power protection feature turns it back off. When i use the devices self diagnostics program it says that the Power output is 105.

This is 5 higher than average voltages.

After looking online i found out that the the Reference voltage is : 3.3 V=255

Is there a way that i can fix this?

If you can find out anything else it will help as i can solder.

I doubt this has anything to do with your power supply. It is most commonly caused by the USB port. Check your front port connector and make sure there are no bent pins. Trace the port connector back to the main board and disconnect and see if that fixes the problem.

Hi,

Here’s the service manual for the receiver which should help.

After you have passed the recaptcha test and clicked on Go to Download, below the Document preview box, be patient as it takes a while to find the file before it changes from processing to download so that you can click on the download link.

Not sure if you have done this already but go to p.37 to see the Display provided when Self-Diagnostic Function started procedure on how to determine whether the problem is in the Power Amplifier section or in the Power supply section.

Looking at the manual if the Ref. Voltage 3.3V = 255 then 105 most likely = 0V, but that is just what I think and don’t know for certain.

Start by checking the DC output voltage supplies as shown on RX-V679/HTR-6068/RX-A750 OPERATION 3/3 schematic on p.132/181 (pdf file page numbering) of the manual.

If OK you may have to go further into the power supply circuits on each board.

Hopefully a start
