upgrade existing SSD in late 2015 retina?
I’ve opened my late 2015 27” retina imac to replace the factory 512 ssd w/ a 2TB ssd (Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E2T0B/AM)), but there’s no ssd in the HD bay! Nor a cable!
I assume I can just get a SATA cable and plug it in, but:
- which cable
- where to plug in
- what am I missing
Thanks in advance,
EDIT 7/8: Cable is due today. One last issue before I dive into this. This ifixit guide, step 56, shows connecting the SATA cable to a different header, one which looks to be a bit easier to access.
Any difference between these two? “other” header in in blue.
EDIT2: Finished, all good! Thanks for the help.

The cable harness has two connections the power one (you've marked that one in Blue) and the data one I've marked in Red. Both are needed. The intent of my picture was to give you a better idea where the cable needed to go as the top edge one is so much easier to get to it really don't need explaining if you follow the guide.
