Sadly, you can’t swap out your display as Apple altered quite a few things during the A1398 series year to year.

I hope you are sitting down! People are just not giving up their MacBook Pro 15” retina’s! They want the ports it offers. Apple’s jump to USB-C forgoing any USB-A ports or SD card reader has many holding out. The Butterfly keyboard mess also had people stepping back from going with the newer models.

So finding recycled parts like displays for any of the older retinas is getting real hard! You can get a new display MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Display Assembly, Apple P/N 661-8310 ~ $980 USD These new displays are going at a premium! As the demand is so great.

Here’s the guide you’ll need to follow MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 Display Assembly Replacement

FYI: There is no model series A1285 MacBook Pro

The A1285 is an iPod designation: iPod nano 4th Gen
