Apple Pencil Being detected, but not working?

I’ve had my iPad Pro since 2016, and recently when charging my apple, pencil, I noticed it stopped working. I double checked if it was my tablet but the pen seemed to just be unresponsive after charging it fully.

I bought a new pencil, and my tablet did detect it, however it does not work on my Ipad for some reason. The battery indicator does appear for the new pencil, but when I try to use it it’s unresponsive.

I tried restarting my tablet, turning bluetooth on and off and so forth.
