Piston rod bushing and pin installation

I am rebuilding my 4.7L engine. I replaced all my piston rod bushing and realized that the piston pin would not slide in. From my understanding the are floating pin pistons.

Has anyone ever done this before. Is this something I need to take to the machine shop?

Hi @dfloguy ,

Don’t know the answer but here’s the 2000-2003 Toyota Tundra Factory Service Manual (RM956U).

Scroll down and click on the ENGINE MECHANICAL (2UZ-FE) link.

In this section it details how to inspect and fit the piston pins and bushings.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Hi @jayeff,

Thanks for the response. It really helped .

I had to get the rod bushing and pin fitted. I took them to a nearby machine shop.
