Why laptop display is randomly going black but its not software issue?

Connect an external monitor to the laptop’s HDMI port and check if its’ display stays constant. Even a TV can be used as an external monitor as long as it has HDMI inputs and you have an appropriate cable to connect the two together. Don’t forget to press the F8 key to toggle the display from the laptop only, to the external only or to both on.

If the external monitor display is OK, when the laptop display goes black, try shining a torch at an angle close to the laptop screen to check if there is still an image there. It will be very faint, so trying this in a darkened room may help to see it if it is there.

If there is an image then you have a backlight problem, either due to a faulty LVDS cable or cable connection, a faulty display panel or a fault on the motherboard

Knowing that it is a backlight problem will only help if you wish to get down to board level repairs on the motherboard. That is if it is proven not to be the LVDS cable or the display. If it is determined to be in the display panel it cannot be repaired, the panel will have to be replaced.

Also try pressing on the right side hinge (I think) to see if you can make the display come back on again as the LVDS cable passes through the hinge to get to the display assembly and it may be damaged there

Here’s the service manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage. Go to p.73 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly. This shows how to gain access to all the relevant components i.e. LVDS cable and the display panel.
