iMac 27" power socket, filter help

If you saw my last post on here i was attempting to take all the guts out my imac and put them into a custom case ill make myself. So far I’ve removed everything i need to boot the computer and function normally except I’m a little confused. Can i just remove the power socket from the housing and put it into my new custom case or will i need to solider on a new one on? Thanks for any help!

I think your best bet here is to find the service manual for your system. so you can see the full parts listing and how everything is connected. There is over a dozen parts that you’ll need to buy as the part is either riveted to the case or will need to emulate to replace the ones the iMac design needs since you are taking off the display. AC power connector, WiFi & Bluetooth antennas, power button just to name a few.

You still have to rewire & reprogram SMC services so that will require access to the schematics and board views.

As the iMac design is based on the chimney effect you’ll need to add additional fans so you don’t over heat the system.

You’ll also need to figure out how to program your EFI & OS so the external monitor is the primary since you are taking away the internal monitor.

I warned you this is not so trivial a process and by the time you get to something useful its going to cost more than its worth.

If you really wanted a desktop instead of a iMac I would have fixed my system, sold it and then taken the money to buy what I really wanted!
