Fake controller connectivity issue

I bought a PS4 controller on ebay. I charged it for an hour (the light from the light bar turned on). However when i tried to connect it using the PS4 home button it didnt switch on. I reset it and then it successfully connected (note this one is the the only controller i have running on the system). After a good 10 mins it would not function at all, however it would still have the light emitting from the light bar. I tried all the connectivity troubleshooting tips i could find online, however nothing worked. I opened the inside of it and the battery is good (tested with my multimeter). What are some other things i could try testing? Do you think its a faulty USB port connection?
