Condensation between LCD panel and display glass

Image 1

Image 2

Over the course of the last half-year or so, what appears to be condensation has slowly begun to obscure the area of the screen around the centre of the menubar. I assume condensation because the dots are translucent and in the logical location for condensed water vapour. My threshold of tolerance has now been exceeded and I would like to do something about the issue. I presume this will involve removing the display glass, which I know is detailed in an existing guide.

Although not evident in the photos, I'm pretty sure the condensation (or possibly mineral residue from since-evaporated condensation?) is between the display glass (that stretchs over the bezel) and the LCD panel. So I think that rules out panel leak, which I think has its own characteristic inconstancy which isn't present here.

Replacement under warranty/visiting an Apple repair centre is not an option, the warranty expired over a year ago and likely wouldn't cover this sort of thing. So, has anybody had this issue? Is removing and cleaning the back of the glass the way forward? Any tips on removing the glass in a manner allowing it to be replaced?

Thanks.
