Is it a Faulty Taptic engine?

I began to realize a month ago that my iPhone XR began to vibrate/haptic feedback on its own. For example, when I’m reading an article on my phone, I can feel that the iPhone made a slight vibration/haptic feedback. But the problems does not always occur. It only happens a couple of times a day.

Is it because I drop my iPhone? Or is it normal?

The taptic engine is pretty robust but when phones “drop”, it can have unpredictable effects. Plus, the newer X series phones are much heavier so the force of the impact is much higher than with a lighter phone.

From this vantage point, it’s hard to say if the taptic engine is the problem or not. It could be a loose connection or even a logic board issue. You’ll have to take a logical approach and change one variable at a time. Start by opening it up and looking for loose connections. The next step would be a replacement taptic engine. If those steps don’t solve the problem, it could be a logic board issue.

If the problem coincides with an iOS update or installation of a specific app, then it could be software related too.
