Why won't my key stay on my keyboard?

Why won't my key stay on my keyboard?

I had a few stuck keys that I removed carefully to clean last week. All of the keys work fine now except my “W” key. The hinge itself will not stay clicked into the keyboard at all.

Every time that I put the hinge down, I put the keycap back on and the whole key falls off with the hinge stuck to it after pressing on it a couple of times. The hinge itself doesn’t seem to be broken or anything. I hope this is an easy fix if anyone can tell me what’s wrong.

Edit: I never took the clip/hinge off originally, it started coming off with the key today

You’ll need to get a replacement scissor assembly as the clips are likely damaged. Here’s a good source for the needed parts Retina MacBook Pro 2012-2015 Keycap parts

I figured as much but was hopeful considering the clip still connects to the keycap itself without issue. Thank you

I took another key off and tried using the clip from it for the "w" key and the same issue is happening. I put the clip back on the original key and it still works for it.

Compare the metal tabs between the keys the scissor hinge clips to are they bent?

How about posting a good set of pics so we can see. Your other pics are too blurry. Try to add some light and use a tripod or other object to rest the phone or camera to steady it. And lastly zoomed in as tight as you can and still be sharp.

My bad with the pictures. I just compared clips and the hole on the w key is actually wider than the r key. I will order a new clip, thanks for responding!
