mac book pro retina start-up screen became half. Anybody can advice.

What happens when you fully log in? Does the screen image reset to the full size?
If you have an external display does this also show up the same way?
What is confusing me here is the battery level & time is present at the top menu bar! So this is not a bad backlight.
