Xbox One X is constantly making the disc eject noise.

My console is continuously making a disc eject nose every 5 to 10 seconds. This occurs when playing a game and even when the console is turned off but still plugged into the wall outlet. There is usually no disc in the drive. When there is a disc in the drive it still makes the eject noise but does not eject the disc until you press the eject button. the button also makes the eject noise when you press the eject button and again when you release it. Is there any way to turn off the eject noise? The console operates normally in every other way so I really don’t want to send it in for repairs.
