Smoke when replacing screen

Hello,

Followed a YouTube video for replacing my girlfriends screen on her 6S. I've had to do this before and had no problems following the exact same video.

This time however I got a puff of smoke when connecting the 2nd connector ribbon to the board.

I carried on and reconnected everything and it all powers up fine. Screen works with no issues that I can see. I'm just concerned there will be other problems at a later date or did I get away with it?

Dont want any issues when charging the device if I have damage the battery in some way?

Also if theres a way to disable the ‘touch ID not functional' message thatd be fantastic! Short of taking it to apple.

If image and touch works it should be fine. Usually a puff of smoke on the 6s when connecting the screen with the battery connected will result in blown fuses and a damaged FPC, you are lucky you got away with it this time.

There is no way at present to disable the touch ID popups.

Seems I was pretty lucky! Will definitely take more care next time and remove the battery. I think having had no problems the first time round I was over-confident!

And that is rubbish, another classic Apple feature.

First I have to ask if you discounted the battery? You should never change an LCD on any phone without discounting the power source. Second, you’re getting that touch ID message because you did not transfer the original home button that came with the phone. Home buttons are married to the motherboard an should never be separated from each other. Some replacement screens come with home buttons, camera etc and can be installed as is for fast repair but its best to buy screen only and swap all the part from old screen to new screen.

Battery was not disconnected, this was not in the video for the screen replacement unfortunately. As I say, I replaced it before and had no issues at all!

The home button that was original to the phone is not functional, and i'm not really bothered about having touch ID as just having a home button is better than none! Thanks for your help.
