If the battery indicator flex cable is completely broken off will the rest of the computer shut down? I had taken my Macbook into an Apple store and their diagnosis was that the logic board was shot. I ordered a new one and replaced it, but the same issue is happening. The laptop will not turn on nor will the green light on the charger come on when connected.

The battery checker on the side of the body hooks up to the logic board here:
If you disconnect the checker cable your system should still boot up. If it doesn’t then you need to look deeper into your problem.
I suspect your real issue is the battery has died, or your MagSafe charger connection is not working properly DC-In Board

When this issue first started happening the laptop did start, but the screen was grainy and would never fully boot up. After I connected the charger it did light up to green, but eventually would not turn on at all and I’m getting no signal from the charger or computer at all.
Do you still think its a dead battery?
If the MagSafe charger LED is turning off that would imply the MagSage charger is not making a good contact to the MagSafe DC-In Board.
It does sound like you have multiple issues present. This is starting to sound like a system which had liquid damage at some point in the past. Sadly, you need to fix the low hanging problems first before you can dig into the deeper issues.
You may need to replace the MagSafe charger as well if the cable or the connector are damaged.

I think you got the wrong parts!
Let see if we can diagnose your problem properly! First when you connect your MagSafe charger whats color is the charging LED Amber to Green? Or, is it not lighting at all?
