iPhone 8 home button issues after Screen replacement

Good evening!

recently completed an iPhone 8 screen replacement to which went smoothly until noticing the home button only half works. Being that the Touch ID works however it doesn’t respond to being used as a back button.

it was not an issue with the damaged screen as I did happen to test it. But after removing the damaged screen i can’t use it to test the home button. I’ve inspected the home button and can’t see any tears in it what so ever and I’m also aware of ensuring to use the right size screws. I noticed before placing the new screen into the actual phone the home button did respond to the click and did work as a home button but once I fully assembled the iPhone it simply wouldn’t respond to being used as a back button.

i’ve taken it all apart around 10 times and the best result I get is that it works for around 10 seconds of the phone being on and then it simply only responds to being used as a Touch ID.

just to clarify

the home button did work before replacing the screen

i understand that it only takes a small tear however the button still responds to a fingerprint

im aware of ensuring the screws go into the right screw holes

ive ordered a new screen as I believe there may be a slight chance it maybe a defective cable on the screen.

just wishing to see if anyone else has had this problem? If so what steps where taken?

If the touch ID functions correctly I would be looking at the turtle IC. It might have got nudged during the transfer. You could try another screen but when there is a tear and or bad flex from the screen it usually disables the touch ID as well.
