Why won't my 3ds turn on?

So, a few days ago i found my old 3ds that i haven't used in about a year. When i pressed the power button initially, the screen lit up and the 3ds turned on. But the battery was low so I turned it back off and put it on the charger, and it seemed to charge fine. The orange light came on and everything. Since then, I haven't been able to turn it on at all. I've pressed the power button in pretty much every way possible but nothing ever seems to work. I tried some steps i saw on the internet but they all failed to solve the problem. Does anyone know what might be the cause?
