RCT6303W87DKF will not operate after battery replacement

I replaced the battery in this tablet following your video guide. In the process of removing the ribbon cable (bus) on the speaker side the tiny black plastic retainer broke. (This retainer is not evident in your video guide.) I tried to tape the end of the cable in place after insertion but the tablet is now inoperative. Is this due to poor contact and if so, what can I do to fix it? The battery connection is solid.
