This is an older equipment line from Saeco. All are labeled Sup 018. (Badge on the bottom). They were later sold under the name Spidem Trevi

Why is freshly ground coffee going all over inside machine and out?

My Saeco Vienna Plus, model SUP018m is still brewing coffee fine, but it is also spewing freshly ground coffee inside and outside of the machine - a lot of them. I took it for repair to a local guy and he couldn’t fix it, (but still charged me $150!) He thought the grinder mechanism might be cracked. Someone else I talked to wondered if it might be something wrong with the coffee doser or the chute leading from the grinder to the brew group. I would really be grateful if anyone could help me understand what is wrong and how to fix it. I am pretty handy and really don’t want to spend any more money on fixing this than need be. Thanks for your help.

Not at all familiar with your unit but you might want to have a look at the following to maybe get some disassembly or other ideas.

Hi Debbie,

I have worked on and owned this machine and love it. I am having the same issue and I have not

found the solution! I have cleaned the grinder and chute/door area, washed and cleaned the brew

group, lubricated the brew group, checked the grinder position, changed grinder settings, in diagnostic

mode checked operation of brew group, grinder and door (hold middle start and steam right buttons while

turning on power button, select left or right volume knob for function. I have not yet found the solution.

I have several other machines however I do want to know the answer to the frustrating problem : )

If you find the answer please email me at Landrew3232@gmail.com, thank you.

Maybe a little late. Perhaps it helps to watch the working grinder using the “test mode" (Google “Saeco Vienna Test Mode") and maybe you must first cheat the microswitches of the door and the brewing unit.

Hi,

I did find the solution shortly after posting the question : )

I had checked the door however had forgotten to check if the paddle for the

microswitch was stuck and it was. Over time it seems the coffee dust had

blocked the paddle. Pull the brew group, the chute door is top right above the

brew group, open the spring loaded door, the paddle is just behind the door.

Now this will become part of my cleaning regime.

Thank you,

Andrew
