Need to find the power button switch connector

Need to locate the power button connector to board. I want to splice into it and connect to a  Sonoff 4CH Pro R2 Smart Switch, Interlock Switch for Generator, Including/Self-locking WiFi & RF Wireless Switch. And be able to turn the iMac on from anywhere.

I have done this on my Windows PC easily and was hoping the same with my iMac.

I’m sure I will need to drill a small hole for the wire to come out.  Maybe even put a two wire connector in the hole, for unplugging and plugging in the sonoff.

You do realize the iMac can be woken from network.

A simpler way to manage your system is to just connect your system to a UPS. Letting the UPS manage your iMac. Turning it off and if needed on.

Yes I did think of this, I would need to run a cat6 cable 150ft, which is not an easy task. When I can use the Sonoff. I use sonoff for many different things including my alarm system, lights, pool, driveway gate and 2 pc's and garage doors. I would like to be able to wire it for the iMac also.

Thank you for your input :)

You don't need Cat6 cable if thats the issue Cat5 or Cat5e will be just fine as you only need a 10BaseT connection (10 mbps).

But, instead of a wired connection how about just using WiFi via an extender between the two points.

I was of the understanding you cant do this over wifi. Even if I could then yes I would need to add a ups to the computer in case power outage. I will look into this thank you. But I still want to know where the power switch connector on the mb or logic board is located. Maybe I'm asking this on the wrong forum?

I have Eero base units which will pass the connection bi-directionally. Basically, a wired extension (E-Net <> WiFi <> E-net) as I have a UPS for my Mac Mini as well as iMac I have my iMac and Mac Pro turn on my Mac Mini and then run a backup program so my Mac's are then backed up onto the mini's external RAID drives.

To be clear here the systems are wired not using WiFi directly.
