Can I use an external disk drive

My disk drive is making strange grinding noises. It wont do anything, it wont inject the disk. it beeps 3 times on power on and off, the eject button doesnt work either. Iv taken it apart, checked the rollers and all the connections, the are all snug and fine. Iv looked everywhere for a replacement for my model cuh-1003a but cannot find a replacement. I'm assuming you cant use an external disk drive and I'm out of warranty. Other than buying a new ps4, what can I do?

P.s iv also noticed the manual eject screw is missing.
