Hi,

If the case is cracked there, it may also be that the audio socket has come loose from the systemboard.

Do you get “stereo” audio or only “mono” audio output for the headphones?

Try adjusting the audio to left and right speaker to check if there is audio for both channels.

If only for one channel here’s a link to the service manual for the laptop. Scroll to p.54 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the systemboard.

You may not have to do all this, just do enough so that you can inspect the socket to check if it is loose or not or if there is any damage to the systemboard around the area of the crack.

If all appears to be OK it still could be a problem with the socket itself. As it is directly mounted onto the systemboard you’ll need smd soldering skills and tools to replace it. Unfortunately i have not been able to locate a replacement socket (if it is the problem). You may have better luck.

I have checked the socket and it isn’t loose. But currently, there is no sound from it even though I am playing music.

Hi,

Is there audio coming from the laptop speakers without the headphones plugged in?

Is there still audio coming from the laptop speakers with the headphones plugged in?

Have you tried different headphones just to prove that they are not the problem as you said first that the audio was weird and now there is no audio in the headphones?

There is audio coming from the laptop speakers without the headphones plugged in. I though the audio sounded not clear than before. I have tried different headphones. If with the headphone plugged in, there is no audio.

Hi,

It appears as though the headphone socket may be faulty as it doesn't connect the audio but is still good enough to indicate to the BIOS when the headphones have been inserted and removed so that the audio to the laptop speakers is turned off and on.

You may have to open the laptop and inspect if the systemboard around the socket is OK (no cracks in evidence - you said that the socket is not loose) and if it appears to be OK then the socket may have to be replaced.
