iPhone 7 Plus "Disabled"

So I replace a screen on an iPhone 7 Plus for a friend. After doing so the message that the iPhone has been disabled and I undertand that it must be plugged I to iTunes to be able to use again. Here's the tricky part that I am not sure of. Just prior to me replacing the screen, she had bought it from another friend that was not using it due to the damage and had bought a new one. When I plug it into my iTunes it does not recognize any device. Does it need to be plugged into his account? And if so, does it need to be his computer? He's given me his login info and that didn't work either.

Thanks for any help…

Yeah you need to put the iPhone in recovery or DFU mode when you want to restore a device on the disabled / lock screen.

Apple has a page on how to do it:

https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204306

When you get a phone that has no display or inner display being cracked as well warn the customer in advance the iPhone may be disabled as screens damaged like that tend to have faulty touch screens that randomly type on the enter passcode screen resulting in too many incorrect passcode attempts leading to disabled iPhone.

Hey Theodore,

I feel your pain. I’ve been in this spot before.

I did some searching and found an article that lays out the top three solutions, check it out:

https://www.iphonelife.com/content/%E2%8...

I would try the second step for sure, which says “Fix Disabled iPhone with iCloud,” this should do the trick, if nothing else works.

Let me know if this helps you out!
