Why can’t I get my camera display to function?

#1 my specific device is not listed. I have a canon rebel dslr eos sl2

i went to record a video with my camera. I fully admit I have been rough with the battery door. But now my shutter doesn’t always engage and my video recorder won’t do anything. It allows me to “take a picture” but gives me an error and won’t save it. It displays my shooting options in camera mode and allows me to use the touch screen for settings but not at all for seeing photos. I do press the red button to attempt to engage the display to camera mode but it just won’t
