No display or backlight

Hello,

I bought a MacBook Pro early 2013 from new. I’ve had various issues and managed to repair most of them myself.

However!! While the laptop was resting on my coffee table I managed to knock it off and the impact smashed the display The image was distorted but the screen still lit up and i was able to connect an external monitor successfully.

After some time i bought myself a new screen from eBay. I swapped the display but forgot to disconnect the battery cable and the laptop powered up while my fingers were on the motherboard! So, i put the new monitor on and powered her up, but i now have absolutely no display or backlight. I do hear a chime though. I ‘ve tried numerous resets and swapped the old screen back, but none have cured the issue. I feel i’ve damaged the motherboard when i swapped the screen.

We’ve been through several wars together and with all my data, i would love to see her alive again. Could anyone kindly help?

It sounds like you have logic board damage. I dont know how iFixit feels about linking to a business within their comments, but Louis Rossmann of Rossmann group does amazing work. I’ve sent in MacBooks for logic board repair and have had a great experience with them. Id send it in for a free diagnosis.
