If you buy the parts from iFixit and you then determine it is not the screen that is the problem you can return the screen quick and easy with no questions asked. iFixit stands behind their products and offers lifetime warranties for everything besides consumables (adhesive, batteries).

@ajcooke01 You have to be careful with this comment. You've said it several times already. iFixit is not in the business of "lending" parts for troubleshooting. There is a huge cost to shipping and accepting returns because someone simply wants to troubleshoot with good quality parts. iFixit will warranty that the parts work, not that they solve you're problem. While I'm sure that they occasionally accept returns of working parts, I doubt it's a regular thing.

I'd like to see what someone at iFixit (@blakeklein) has to say just to set the record straight.

@refectio Not saying there would be any lending of parts here. I am just saying that iFixit stands behind their parts and has a good return policy if for some reason you need it. I have done what I said in my prior comment multiple times and they have taken it back and given me a refund. Just speaking from experience.

Error 9 is a catchall error code that could point to many things. However, given that ou have other issues as well, I would suspect it is a board-level problem.
