Case cracked Power Button Receded Inspiron 15-5547

I've got a laptop here that the case is cracked around the power button and its receded.. Inspiron 15-5547 as above, however mid-disassembly I have this feeling it might be a difficult to repair part. The plastic itself, and I'm not so sure about the button itself.

Anyone know if the part is even cost effective to replace?

Hi @thomask ,

I think that the part around the power button is the palm rest assembly. Searching online they are not that expensive to replace.

Here’s a link to just one supplier to give you an idea of the cost. There are cheaper suppliers online out of China if you’re prepared to wait for the delivery time

Here’s a link to the service manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage.

Scroll to p.67 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the palmrest assembly.

There is no mention in the manual regarding the power button as a removable part. Sorry that I cannot be of any further help regarding the button.
