Will tablet with dead battery work while plugged in to AC?

I have several Insignia 10.1" tablets (P10A7100) that are single use and always are plugged in to AC (they never move). I originally was under the impression they would always work while plugged in to AC even after the battery failed. I now fear this may not be the case.

Does anyone know of a method to keep them working with just the charger plugged in (after the battery gives up). Perhaps a way to wire that 5V 2A power around the battery?

If this is not possible, does anyone know of a source for new batteries for this model?

Thanks.

Additional comment:

I'm not concerned about damaging the tablet if I attempt to wire around the battery. Because if the battery fails (and I'm unable to find replacement batteries) the tablet is useless.

Hi,

Here’s a link to a supplier of the batteries.

I suggest that you verify the dimensions of the replacement battery, (Width: 100mm; Height (Length): 150mm; Thick: 2.5mm) ''with one that you already have , just to ensure that they will physically fit into the tablet.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Insignia Flex 10.1 NS-P10A6100 Battery Replacement guide, which may be of some help.

As an aside, it is interesting to note that the battery shown in the guide is a 6000 mAH 3.7V LiPO battery and the supplier is advertising a 5000 mAH 3.7V LiPO battery, just so that you are aware that the tablet may not operate for as long when on a fully charged battery only as perhaps it did with the original battery, when the battery was OK. ;-).

Hopefully this is of some help.
