My laptop has no display. Light and Fan turns on momentarily

My Acer Travelmate P248 series has no monitor display. When I plug its power chord the light that indicates that its charging turns on. Yet upon pressing the power button, still no display, but the power indicator along with the laptop's internal fan turns on for 5 seconds then goes off again...

Before I have this problem, upon turning off my laptop, i click on the "Update and shutdown" option and that's the last time my device works. . .
