Mac Mini Motherboard Issue

I have a Mac Mini Server 2010, a 1347 model. Originally, I bought it used and it appeared that everything was working. Later on, I found out it had some hidden problems. When I first got it, I think it had a newer OS X version installed. Since it has two hard drives installed, the second drive was bad so I had to replace it. Next, I found out the ethernet port didn't work. Finally, the fan was running high.

I tried to run ASD or AHT but I kept on getting an error message about it couldn't be found. I forgot the exact wording of it. None the less, booting into diagnostics is not working.

I started to take thing it apart and reset the RAM and cables. Nothing seems to resolve it. I tried PRAM and nothing. I can get into Safe mode, startup manager etc... but I can't boot off of USB flash drive or USB dvd drive.

I think the motherboard is bad or some component is bad.

Does the Mac Mini desktop have the same hardware as found in the server? Can I swap parts between the two models?

The workstation version: Mac mini 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo (Mid-2010)

Other than the optical drive the systems are the same!

Lets see if the built in diagnostics works before we jump onto a new logic board. It would help knowing what the OS version you currently have. Go to the Apple menu and click on About This Mac it will give you all of the info and if you run across the tabs the amount of RAM and how many drives your system has.

Using a USB connected keyboard press hold it as you Re-start your system it should get you into the diagnostics within the newer firmware. Are you able to get that to work? If so, what was the errors it told you.

When I try to enter Diagnostics, it starts Internet Recovery and I have to use Wifi because the ethernet port is not working. After I choose the AHT language, I get "Apple Hardware Test does not support this machine". Most likely, I have to either upgrade the OS X or I have to manually installed ASD.

Again, I think the logic board is bad or some component is bad such as the ethernet port. After I bought this computer, I didn't realize there were any port issues or any issues with the board.

What is odd to me, this computer came with Snow Leopard which should have a compatible AHT version designed for this computer. I think Lion should have AHT compatible version which should work with this computer. Again, I don't know if Apple started with 2010 models and were using ASD.

I do have the original media which is the grey CDs. It is OS X server CD. I don't know if I can run diagnostics from that CD.

You should be able to run the diagnostics from the CD.

The computer is running MM41.0045.b00 and SMC 1.65f2. My issue is I can't run ANY diagnostics on the computer. As I said before, when I use D or COMMAND+D or OPTION+D it starts internet recovery after the AHT language menu, it says AHT doesn't support this computer.
