My Envy 17-3270NR goes into "slow motion"

My Envy 17-3270NR audio & video goes into "slow motion" and the PC freezes up, then after 30 seconds or so it will resume the video on the screen with the audio. I thought it was heat related because it does get pretty warm, but it seems to happen immediately when I re-position the notebook from where it is sitting.
