3D Touch too sensitive after replacement

Hello, I replaced my screen on my iPhone today with the ifixit kit and now the 3D Touch is insanely sensitive. Even if I turn it up to firm I’ll touch something and it will instantly go to 3D. This is much more annoying than I thought it would be. Thanks for any help!

Hello ddemko100,

Sorry to hear about your issue, sadly I do not have a solid answer as I've never heard of or had this issue myself, but I do have a theory. For starters, I fix iPhone's in my free time and just replaced a 6S screen today. The screen I replaced the broken one with did not have the issue, so it is not a software issue, but most likely a hardware issue. I don't know your experience with screen repairs, but it is most likely that the screen is not put in well enough. This could mean the hooks near the top are not put in all the way, the screen is not pushed in all the way, not all the clips are put in and the screen protrudes a little bit, or the screen you bought is not OEM or OEM Compliant. If you bought the screen from iFixit, you're fine on the OEM issue, meaning it could be that the screen is just not put in well enough. My recommendation, take the screen off and put it back together, making sure the top is flush with the top of the screen (just rub your finger over it and see if it feels flush), and that may fix it. If not, return it in exchange for a new one.

Hope this helps!

I have the same issue. My best guess is maybe the plate that’s attatched to the back of the digitizer is on too tight… I can live without 3D touch for now. Might buy a new digitizer of higher quality and see if that is the issue. Sorry I don’t have a solution for either of us
